Academic rigor. Surgical discipline. Aesthetic judgment.
Dr. Samantha Maliha, MD, MS, is a plastic surgeon with advanced training in both aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. Patients appreciate her clear communication, thoughtful approach, and attention to detail. She listens closely, tailors her surgical plans, and takes into consideration the patient’s priorities. She also helps patients understand when a more conservative approach is best.
Her clinical interests include facial rejuvenation, eyelid surgery, breast surgery, and body contouring, and she has strong training in these areas. Dr. Maliha completed the Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship of Los Angeles, a competitive program that provides an extra year of focused training in aesthetic surgery of the face and body. There, she gained experience in complex head-to-toe cosmetic procedures.
She has the background many patients want in a surgeon: strong academic credentials, thorough surgical training, published research, and a consultation style that focuses on anatomy, healing, and long-term results rather than vague promises and fleeting trends.
Dr. Maliha graduated summa cum laude with highest honors from the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry. She went on to earn both her MD and MS in Clinical Investigation from New York University School of Medicine through a dual-degree program.
She completed her plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at UPMC, widely recognized as one of the elite, top residency programs in the US, where she trained in craniofacial, hand, microsurgery, breast, and aesthetic surgery. During her residency, she built a strong academic record with nearly 30 peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters, and gave presentations at meetings at different levels. She also served in leadership roles, including serving as Administrative Chief Resident.
Dr. Maliha continued her training with the Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship of Los Angeles, during which she spent an extra year focusing on advanced aesthetic surgery. Each year, this fellowship selects only two fully trained plastic surgeons for specialized training in all areas of aesthetic plastic surgery and cosmetic medicine.
She also has a strong research background. While at NYU, she studied cranial suture biology in the pediatric facial skeleton and received the Paul Black Junior Investigator Award at the American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association meeting for her work.
Patients who choose Dr. Maliha will find a surgeon who is thoughtful, highly trained, and focused on the details that affect the final result. Beauty lies in detail. She strongly considers scar placement, tissue handling, surgical planning, and symmetry when developing a surgical plan. She also knows when doing less leads to a better outcome.
Dr. Maliha’s background helps her make careful decisions. She trained at an Ivy League university, completed a dual-degree medical program at NYU, completed her plastic surgery residency at UPMC, and graduated from the top aesthetic fellowship. She approaches her surgical planning with both science and humanity.
She is an excellent choice for patients who want a surgeon who is precise, earnest, and honest. Aesthetic surgery tends towards trends, but in her consultations, she focuses on anatomy, tradeoffs, healing, and what will still look good years down the line.
