Subjects Lost Average Of 15 Pounds, Up To 50 Pounds During Clinical Trial

Marina del Rey, CA – January 3, 2017 — Grant Stevens, MD, FACS, a board certified plastic surgeon and founder of Marina Plastic Surgery in Marina del Rey, CA, announced that his practice is the first U.S. location to offer the Obalon Balloon System, an FDA approved, non-surgical, in-office option for weight loss. The Obalon Balloon System helps with weight loss by filling the stomach so clients eat less.

“We are proud to add the Obalon Balloon System to our aesthetic practice and to be the first to introduce this successful treatment to our clients,” Dr. Stevens said. “The Obalon System has undergone strict clinical testing and has been approved for both men and women desiring to lose weight safely and easily.” The Obalon Balloon candidate has a body mass index (BMI) from 30 to 40 kg/m2 and is over 22 years of age. Patients typically resume normal activities immediately after the procedure. A 12-month program begins with the placement of the Obalon Balloons in the stomach for up to six months. The program includes a healthy diet and exercise program during the time that the balloons are in place and for six months after the balloons are removed.

In a clinical study, patients with the Obalon balloon system with a prescribed diet and exercise program lost about twice as much weight than those who did diet and exercise alone. The Obalon Balloon System was also shown to help change eating habits and keep weight loss long-term.

“We are committed to working closely with our clients to help them develop healthier eating habits, such as making the right food choices and limiting portion sizes. After the initial balloon placement, you should expect that you won’t be able to eat the same quantity of food you previously consumed at one sitting. This helps control your eating habits,” said Dr. Stevens. He added that only physicians are allowed to insert the balloons.

“Your body benefits from plastic surgery and non-invasive beauty treatments here at Marina Plastic Surgery. Now you can be even more glowing with Obalon,” Dr. Stevens said.
